urban exploring

I wish I was brave enough. I have a love for abandoned buildings and towns. One of my favorites to learn about is Pripyat, Ukraine. This was a town where most Chernobyl workers and their families resided. Once the Chernobyl disaster happened in 1986, residents were evacuated and told they could return in a couple of days. They never returned. There are now tours you can take to explore Pripyat, but certain areas still have high levels of radiation.

There was an amusement park that was just days away from opening when the disaster struck. The rides had never been used, and nobody ever enjoyed them. Now, over 20 years later, they are rotting.

Here is the source, and a dozen more amazing photos.

This is just one of my favorites. I will surely add more. Do you have a favorite?
